The Oscars' 21 Most Unforgettable Moments. Who Remembers #9?

20.6k views

Every year, stars grace the red carpet decked out in the best—and sometimes the unusual—for one of the biggest nights of the year: the Oscars. The 88th Academy Awards will take place on February 28 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, with the multitalented comedian Chris Rock as host. Rock has also worked successfully as a writer, producer, director, and documentarian, and emceed the event back in 2005.

Dating back to 1929, the Oscar is a prestigious recognition for excellence in cinematic achievements decided upon by the Academy's voting membership of about 6,000 certified professionals. Some ways to gain membership include working in the industry in the last ten years and having been previously nominated for an Oscar. Most of us don't fall under these categories, so we'll be seeing you online.

Even though we'll be at home, we'll still be able to enjoy some of the night's most unforgettable moments. For example, who could forget John Travolta's award-winning mispronunciation of "Idina Menzel"?

Browse through the list below for some refreshers from throughout the years.
