In 2011, a massive tsunami caused a series of nuclear meltdowns in Fukushima, Japan. Four years later, the 12.5 mile exclusion zone around the nuclear plant is frozen in time and has been documented in a stunning new photo project.

The area around the plant is considered contaminated, so the exclusion zone grounds and everything on it had to be abandoned. That means that everything is as it was before the accident: Untouched, abandoned, and a constant reminder of what used to be. Check out the eery photos from Fukushima's exclusion zone below.
